David Hwan
David Hwan supports global investments and portfolio management. Having founded a SoftBank-backed startup, he brings deep empathy for founders and prioritises understanding what drives them. He works closely with portfolio companies across sales, talent, go-to-market, and partnerships.
Prior to Kadan, David was Co-founder and COO at Kwara, a Nairobi-based fintech startup that digitised 250 credit unions across Africa and Asia. He tripled Kwara’s revenue annually, grew the team to over 60 people, and led the company to profitability in Kenya. During his tenure, Kwara raised over 10 million USD in venture capital from leading global investors including SoftBank, Breega, and Norrsken.
Previously, David co-founded Forward Incubator in the Netherlands, where he supported over 100 entrepreneurs in partnership with Google, McKinsey, and Uber. He began his career at PwC’s M&A department.
David holds an MA Philosophy and MSc Fiscal Economics from the University of Amsterdam, and speaks English, Dutch, and Bahasa Indonesia. Outside of work, he enjoys rock climbing, padel, and camping, and spends most evenings on long walks with his wife.
